Or Mischievous Kiss in English. Now I am quite a fan of shoujo animes, I love series like Aishiteruze Baby, Kareshi to Kanojo no Jijou, etc. But it’s hard for me to just pick up a shoujo series, unless I’m absolutely bored (I know I am contradicting myself). So what’s my motivation of picking up this series? First of all, a bit of history:-
Itazura na Kiss was an immensely popular manga in the 90s, but ended abruptly in 1999 when mangaka Tada Kaoru passed away from cerebral hemorrhage. The manga remains unfinished at 23 volumes, but was adapted to a live-action series in Taiwan, “It started with a Kiss”. I did not follow both the manga or the live-action series, and had no idea how good or bad was it at all.

I did enjoy the first episode of the anime though. There were some funny moments and Kotoko is kawaii! She is voiced by Mizuki Nana (Darker Than Black – Misaki). Animation quality is okay, but I wasn’t really expecting anything great from a shoujo show anyway. Apparently the unfinished story would be completed with this anime, working from the notes Tada left behind.
I’m interested in knowing how the story would progress, and depending on the plot and pace, I might end up following this anime.
Wow interesting piece of information! I had no idea, but that makes the series all that much worth it to watch!
